Rajasthan
to Immunize 4 Lakh Children Against 7 Life-threatening Diseases
Rajasthan will immunize nearly four
lakh children from the vulnerable sections of society in the next four months
under the Central governments scheme 'Mission Indradhanush' launched on April
7.
The immunization campaign will focus on unvaccinated and partially vaccinated children below the age two.
Nine districts of Rajasthan (Alwar, Tonk, Barmer, Bundi, Dhaulpur, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Karauli and Swai Madhopur) are among the 201 districts in India, which have been identified as districts with low immunization.
The number of unvaccinated or partially vaccinated children in the nine districts of Rajasthan is estimated to be 1.60 lakh.
Mission Indradhanush will provide vaccination to children against seven life-threatening diseases like diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, polio, tuberculosis, measles and hepatitis B.
In selected districts, vaccination against Hemophilus influenza type B and Japanese encephalitis will be provided.
The immunization coverage in Rajasthan is 73 percent and the government aims to target 90 percent immunization coverage by 2020. Increased immunization coverage will help in reducing child and maternal mortality.
Campaigns will also be organized to increase the immunization coverage annually by five percent.
