Causes for thinning of hair in men
Experts point out that the main cause of hair thinning is changed lifestyle, diet and stress. Don't just sit with that comb in your hand and crib on the loss, read ahead and find what's your reason for losing your beloved tresses...

Androgenic Alopecia: Also known as male pattern baldness, the hair is lost in a well-defined pattern, beginning above both temples and at the crown of the head. The condition, which affects an estimated 35 million men in the United States in 2010, appears in clusters of families and is believed to be inherited.

Poor diet: Hair is made of a type of protein. If your diet is full of junk food, fat , salt and vegan diet , than you may not be consuming ample amount of proteins leading to hair thinning. Too little iron is yet another contributor to baldness. Again weight loss diets cause hair thinning too!

Genetics: A boy always stares at his father's bald patch to imagine his hair thinning in the years to come , but did you know that when it comes to male pattern baldness, this gene is inherited from your mother's side of the family. Taking a look at the relatives on your mother's side could be a good indication as to the future of your hair.

Stress: is another major cause of hair thinning. When you're under a great deal of chronic stress it wreaks havoc on your hormones, causing an imbalance and ultimately causes hair thinning.

Over shampooing: is one more reason for thinning hair. The scalp contains natural oils that help your hair to stay healthy. By stripping away these oils with harsh chemicals contained in most shampoos hair becomes dry and brittle, falling out easier.

Lack of circulation: leads to baldness and hair thinning too. Each hair sits in a follicle that is nourished by your blood stream. If you have circulation problems or poor nutrition this may lead to hair loss.

Medical conditions hyperthyroidism, diabetes and lupus: have all been linked to hair loss and hair thinning. The presence of parasites, such as ringworm, can also damage the hair follicles and lead to thinning hair or baldness in patches. Chemotherapy and radiation therapy, frequently used for cancer treatments, usually cause hair loss, but it grows back once the treatment is over.

Hair treatment and styling: Hair styles that pull on the follicles, such as hair spikes, pony tails, gelling will cause an acceleration in normal hair loss. Chemical treatments, dyes, curling irons and blow dryers can also weaken and damage the hair and cause accelerated hair loss and hair thinning. So when trying to ape your favorite celebrity hair style, don't go overboard with it. Your hair might not take it.

'Living near equator raises allergy, asthma risks'
People residing near the equator may find themselves sneezing and wheezing more than usual due to exposure to higher ultra violet radiations, says a US study.

"UV-B rays (type of ultraviolet radiation) exposure is higher for people living in areas closer to the equator," said Vicka Oktaria, from the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (ACAAI), who led the study.

"This increase in UV-B may be linked to vitamin D which is thought to modify the immune system. These modifications can lead to an elevated risk of developing allergy and asthma," the journal Annals of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology reports.

Previous studies have shown that latitude can reflect a variation in airborne allergens due to climate, housing and social and cultural differences. This study is one of the first using the individuals latitude location and UV-B exposure to examine the association with allergy and asthma, according to an ACAAI statement.

"Allergies and asthma are serious diseases that can be life-threatening if not diagnosed and treated properly," said allergist Richard Weber, president of ACAAI.
